Process Paper
Our group chose our topic by looking at some past sample topics, and the reign of the Nazis really stood out to us. We all shared a common interest in it and wanted to further our knowledge of the subject. The Nazis can be a sensitive subject, simply because of all the wrong they have done against humanity, but it is an interesting subject, nonetheless. The Nazis had a sick and twisted expectation for the world, and we tried to expose that throughout our website. We understand that everyone knows that the Nazis were cruel and sadistic, but we wanted to further unmask their ideology.
We started our research by going to our local library and finding books pertaining to our topic. We found a number of books relating to Nazi ideas, the years of extermination, and even first-hand accounts of children and others who lived during that time. We also researched for more information on the internet. We found a variety of websites that provided us with quotations and pictures that were taken in between the years of 1930 and 1945. We even found old interviews and a plethora of facts that none of us knew. We also conducted some research to learn about current forms of Nazism that have gone on around the world since the reign of Hitler and the Nazis.
We chose to create a website this year because we wanted to try out something new. Last year we constructed an exhibit, but we did not have much room for information. By designing a website, we were able to add more information in an organized manner. The website best seemed to accommodate the number of quotations and picture we were able to obtain. To start our project, we went on the Weebly creator website and simply just started to experiment. We chose the red and black color scheme because those were the general colors of the Nazis, such as their flag and uniforms. We also tired to create a balance with our pages by giving each page its own unique style.
We believe that our topic fits this year's theme very well. The Nazis were by no means right in any sense, but they believed that they had a certain responsibility to create their version of their ideal world. They went as far as to attempt to wipe out the entire Jewish population. They executed and exterminated 11 million people in order to create their master race. They essentially brainwashed everyone, especially the children, living in Germany at the time. The Nazis believed that they were entitled and right to carry out all these extreme actions for "the good of the world". In all reality, they were completely wrong and irresponsible in their actions pertaining to rights and responsibilities.
